Loterie Farm, St. MartinLoterie Farm is home to St. Martin's only remaining Caribbean rainforest. Once a sugar plantation, the 150-acre private nature preserve now offers visitors a glimpse of St. Martin's unspoiled natural beauty. Here you'll see ancient mango trees, the island's famous guavaberry trees, and hundred of species of tropical plants and trees. Watch for the green monkeys, iguanas, and peacocks. You can explore the terrain on horseback, mountain bike, or by foot along the many hiking trails leading through the preserve. You can also take a 1 1/2-hour guided tour where you'll learn more about Loterie Farm, its history, and its flora and fauna. One of Loterie Farm's newest adventures is the zip-line running through the Caribbean rainforest. In the "Fly Zone," you'll fly through the trees like a monkey and navigate an obstacle course of suspended bridges and rope swings--all while attached to cable lines via a harness. Younger visitors have their own special fly zone where they too can tackle an obstacle course of swinging ropes and suspended bridges. Once you've had enough exercise, stop by the Hidden Forest Cafe. The Cafe is open for lunch and dinner and is well known throughout the island for its exquisite cuisine. In fact, the Cafe was featured in Bon Appetit magazine. There's something for everyone on this menu, which includes salads, wraps, burgers, and excellent Caribbean dishes. You'll want to spend the day at Loterie Farm to savor all the beauty, history, and adventure it has to offer. Restaurant of the Month - La Gondola, Cupecoy, St. MartinLa Gondola is considered one of the best Italian restaurants on the island. Diners come from far and wide to sample its famous homemade pasta. In fact, La Gondola's owner got his start by making pasta at his shop La Raviolina. He sold the pasta to many of the island's other restaurants, but the rave reviews his pasta received inspired him to add a small dinner-only restaurant to the shop that showcased his renowned pasta. Today La Gondola occupies a new space at the popular Atlantis Casino in Cupecoy. Guests continue to rave about the pasta as well as La Gondola's renditions of classic Italian dishes like osso bucco, veal piccata, and, of course, everyone's favorite Italian dessert--tiramisu. The menu also features fresh fish and seafood dishes, a popular choice of La Gondola's clientele. La Gondola serves dinner only, and reservations are recommended. For more information about La Gondola, please feel free to email us at info@greencay.com prior to your visit to Green Cay and we would be happy to assist you.
